Senior Center

Ground Breaking Pictures

As of now, we are hopefully on our way to having a Community Center for Lower Makefield as a result of a grant from the State of Pennsylvania. The Lower Makefield Seniors extend our thanks to Representative Steve Santarsiero and the Lower Makefield Board of Supervisors for working together to bring our dreams to a reality.

As a result of there being fewer time constraints at the new Center, we will be able to expand our activities. The Supervisors voted to locate the Center on the Samost Tract, which is on Oxford Valley Road, between Edgewood and Roelofs Road.  This location is perfect for the Seniors and the Community, because it is centrally located, near the pool, library, police, ambulance, and the tax office, which will enhance the “Community” feel.  The Center will provide social opportunities for Seniors to rekindle acquaintances and friendships and make new friends, a meeting place sorely needed and long anticipated.

We currently meet at the Township Building several times a week for various activities including bridge, card games, mahjongg, art lessons, bocce, book club, golf, keyboard orchestra, line dancing, low impact exercises, various health workshops, bowling, holiday celebrations, knit and stitch, and free AARP tax preparation. Once a month, with the exception of July and August, we have a “Meet & Greet” program where we feature various speakers who provide health and legal information pertinent to our members.  This program is followed by a complimentary lunch.  Please feel free to click on the link provided below to see a complete list of our activities and coordinators.

All seniors (55 plus) are welcome to join. If you have any questions or need further information, please call John LaBar, 215-736-8971.
We always look forward to meeting new members.
