BOARD MEETING MINUTES

OLD BUSINESS
Mr. Rogers discussed
potential visitors to the meeting tonight.
He stated he was unable to get anyone, the Fire Marshall, the Bensalem
DPAB member or Jeff Werner to come to the October or November meeting and he
would try for another month.
Mr. Rogers discussed his
inability to get construction plans from the Planning Department for the Board
to review for
Mr. Rogers stated he is
waiting for Mr. Fedorchak to give him information from the engineers about the
cost to alter the light on
NEW BUSINESS
Mr. Rogers discussed the
lack of accessibility for disabled persons at certain places in the Township
such as doctor’s offices and the Township building. The Board agreed to look for accessibility
problems in the Township to address to Mr. Fedorchak and the Board of
Supervisors that could easily be corrected.
Mr. Rogers stated he would draft a recommendation and send it to Mr.
Fedorchak to correct the deficiencies in the ramp at the entrance to the
Township building.
Mr. Rogers said this
Board might need to personally visit Township businesses that do not comply
with accessibility requirements. Ms.
Huchler-Smith said it would be helpful to have a short list of how to make
places of business more accessible.

Ms. Huchler-Smith
recommended the Township put money in the budget for Nancy Frick or the person
who review plans to attend ADA sponsored seminars or conferences to educate
them on ADA requirements so that future plans for public places comply with ADA
requirements.
The Board discussed
ideas on how to make the community aware of the Disabled Persons Advisory Board
and how it can educate and assist people.
The Board agreed a presentation to the Lower Makefield Seniors would be
a good place to start.
Ms.
Huchler-Smith moved, Mr. McConville seconded and it was unanimously carried to
approve the August 2004 meeting minutes as written.
