DISABLED PERSONS ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES

TUESDAY, JUNE 28, 2005

A meeting of the Disabled Persons Advisory Board of the Township of Lower Makefield was held in the Municipal Building on Tuesday, June 28, 2005, however a quorum was not present and these minutes are for informational purposes only. Chairman Rogers opened the meeting at 7:40 p.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Approval of the May minutes was tabled until the next meeting.

UPDATE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

Bexley Orchards

Mr. Rogers and Mrs. Piccinotti discussed the newspaper article regarding the audible signal at Big Oak Road and the subsequent article in the Thumbs Up section of the Bucks County Courier Times giving all of the credit for the signal to the Bexley Orchards neighbors. The article discounts all of the work the LMT Board of Supervisors and the Disabled Persons Advisory Board did to get the audible signal installed.

Super Fresh Supermarket

Mr. Rogers stated that Ms. Frick gave him a letter from a Super Fresh customer complaining about the sidewalk being blocked by shopping carts. Mr. Rogers stated that he went to Super Fresh to ask if they would move the shopping carts to allow for better access. He stated that he visited Super Fresh following his request and the shopping carts were moved. He stated he would periodically check to make sure the carts were not blocking access.

Transportation Request

Mr. Rogers stated he received a telephone call from a Newtown resident whose husband had a stroke and cannot drive for several months asking if he could refer her to a service that could

drive her husband to his workplace. Mr. Rogers stated that he referred her to Bucks County Transportation. Mrs. Piccinotti stated she knows of another transportation company in Morrisville and she would e-mail Mr. Rogers the name of the company.

Zoning Hearing Board Matters

Mr. Rogers stated that Allegheny Valley School recently purchased three properties within the Township and is challenging the Zoning Hearing Board’s denial of their request to house six mentally challenged adults, two supervisors and children in these homes. Mr. Rogers stated that he would follow-up with this matter as it develops.

Township Building Renovations

Mr. Rogers stated the concrete portion of the Township Building renovations would begin on July 5^th. He stated that he is not sure where the handicap parking will be.

Review of Building Permits

Mr. Rogers stated on Township Line Road there exists three buildings and a permit has been granted for a fourth building at the site. He stated he looked at the plans and did not have any objections.

Need for ID Card for DPAB members

Mr. Rogers stated he recently met with the Lower Southampton Board of Supervisors about creating a Disabled Persons Board for Southampton and on his visit to Super Fresh felt the need for an ID card identifying him as a member of the LMT Disabled Persons Advisory Board. Mr. Rogers stated that he would ask Mr. Fedorchak for ID cards/business cards for the Board members.

Accessible Parking Memorandum

Mr. Rogers stated he would talk with Mr. Fedorchak and Chief Coluzzi regarding the accessible parking memorandum he drafted to answer a few questions.

The Committee scheduled the next meeting for Tuesday, July 26th at 7:30 p.m.
