APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr. Kuebler moved, Mr. Newbon seconded and
it was unanimously carried to approve the Minutes of March 7, 2000 as written.
OTHER BUSINESS
Mr. Fritchey noted there was a letter sent
to the Park & Recreation Board from residents concerned with bikepaths in
the area of Big Oak and Stony Hill Roads. Ms. Liney stated the residents are
attempting to get the bikepath finished in this area. She is not sure if Mr.
Fedorchak is working on this, and she will check this with him. She added this
bikepath shows on the Master Bike Plan but it does appear to involve a
condemnation of property. Mr. Fritchey stated it appears this has to do with
the Rolling Greene development. A copy of the Master Bike Plan was reviewed.
Ms. Liney stated she feels this is more of an administrative item since the
Park & Recreation Board has already included this particular bikepath on
the plan. Ms. Liney stated she will look into this matter further.
Mr. Smith noted the memo from Ms. Liney to
Mr. Fedorchak about the need for additional fields. Mr. Smith stated he does
not want his comments made at the Board of Supervisors meeting interpreted to
mean that there is not a need for additional fields in the Township. He stated
he felt what was planned for North Park was adequate for that facility but
still feels there is a need for additional fields in the Township.
Ms. Liney stated Mr. Fedorchak asked that
she update the Park & Recreation Board on a land purchase that is imminent
which is the Snipes tract. They are looking to put two full size and one
mid-size field on that property immediately. They feel there are eight to ten
acres available for soccer. Mr. Smith asked if they are waiting for the Park
& Recreation Board Road Tour in July to see this site. Mrs. Godshalk stated
the Park & Recreation Board members are welcome to attend the Board of
Supervisors Road Tour. Ms. Liney stated Mr. Fedorchak was having Mr. Gouza look
at the property today. Mr. Smith asked if he could report to YMS that they can
anticipate use of these fields in the fall, and Mrs. Godshalk stated she did
not know if anything was final yet and they should check with Mr. Fedorchak on
this first. Mr. Smith stated he could advise the Executive Board only of the
potential purchase.
Ms. Liney stated the dedication for Roelofs
Park is scheduled for Monday evening at 5:45 p.m.
Ms. Liney stated the Board of Supervisors
did approve Concept Plan D for North Park. She thanked the Park &
Recreation Board for their d year round. He stated if they used H for soccer,
they could get two fields. Mr. Fritchey stated he would like to install ten to
twelve tennis courts at Samost and change the existing tennis courts at
Community Park to additional basketball courts. Mr. Fritchey stated the tennis
courts could be put in along the road frontage. They would have to provide
parking. Mrs. Godshalk stated she would like the tennis courts to be visible
from the road since there are a number of women who use them.
Ms. Liney stated she has been told the Water
Company may be willing to work with the Township on either a reconfiguration of
the land or a sale of land to the Township. The water tank site was visited and
Ms. Martin stated she did not feel the Water Company would need more than fifty
feet around the tank.
Some members of the Park & Recreation
Board drove to the Snipes Tract following the Tour of the Samost Tract.
