YARDLEY MAKEFIELD TENNIS PROGRAM UPDATE
Mr. Mike Cremeans and Ms. Lisa Sherman were present to discuss the Yardley Makefield
Tennis Program. Mr. Cremeans stated their response to the Program has been excellent
with very limited publicizing of the Program. He stated they are at 98% capacity on four
courts. More than 90% of the participants are Township residents. Ms. Sherman stated
they have had to add additional classes.
Ms. Liney stated the Township has received substantial user fees from this Program
already.
Ms. Sherman stated they would like to have four courts at one location for their summer
camp. She stated she feels the best location would be Schuyler as opposed to Revere Road
where the courts back up to residences. The hours for the Camp are from 9:00 A.M. to
Noon, Monday through Friday.
Mr. Newbon stated he feels it will make their Program easier to run if they have four courts
at one location.
It was the consensus of the Park & Recreation Board that they have the four courts at
Schuyler. Ms. Liney stated they will continue to monitor this situation.
Ms. Sherman noted there is a display board at Schuyler where they could put up a sign
indicating the hours they will be using the courts.

SCHEDULE PARK & RECREATION BOARD ROAD TOUR
Ms. Liney asked if the Board would consider having the Road Tour on Tuesday, July 16
rather than the regularly scheduled meeting date of July 9. Ms. Liney noted that the Township Manager would like to attend the Road Tour and update the Park Board on some projects that are pending. This was acceptable to the Board.
RECREATION DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Ms. Liney stated an additional toilet is scheduled to be installed at Macclesfield Park but
due to the lack of delivery of one of the pieces, they will not be able to do the work at this
time. It is anticipated that the project will be completed by the end of the month.
Ms. Liney stated the Park Department had received a complaint about the timers at the
basketball courts and Pool tennis courts which resulted in lights going out too early.
She stated in consideration of the summer season, they have adjusted them and they will go out at 10:30 p.m.
Ms. Liney stated the Pool operation is in full swing and membership is above what it was
this time last year. She will receive specific information on this number in the future.
The Township Manager has scheduled a meeting of all parties involved in the heater issue
to hopefully resolve this problem.
Ms. Liney stated the Board of Supervisors toured the Pool Complex on June 7. She stated
they also visited the Stoddart Complex and approved construction of a roadway of ground
millings behind the hedgerow leading up to the concession stand. They also approved a
four foot paved path which is required by ADA as well as the paving of an ADA parking
spot in the lot. They will do this in conjunction with the bikepath resurfacing project.
Resurfacing will be done on portions of Big Oak Road as well as the Yardley Hunt loop if
there is sufficient money once bids come in. The Board also visited the planned Memorial
Park facility on Woodside Road, and the Township Manager will update the Park &
Recreation Board on this at the Park Board Road Tour.
Ms. Liney stated the Park & Recreation Department is aware of the field conditions at
Fields E, F, and G at Macclesfield Park; and they feel these will have to be sodded so that
they will be ready for football.
LEAGUE LIAISON REPORT
Yardley Makefield Soccer - Mr. Smith stated they are concerned about the condition of the
fields at Macclesfield Park and feel they should be closed except for camps over the
summer. He suggested that the camps use the back fields. Mr. Smith stated there was an
ODP Tournament over the weekend and there was a plumbing problem in the men’s
restroom. He stated there is no protocol on having someone to contact at the Township if
this occurs. Ms. Liney stated they could issue a blanket purchase order for a local plumber
for an emergency like this. Mr. Smith asked if there was an update on the Park Ranger
discussion, and Ms. Liney stated Chief Coluzzi and the Township Manager are going to
discuss this.
