In accordance with Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection regulations, Section 71.31(c) of PA Code, Title 25, Act 537, Lower Makefield Township is accepting comments for the next thirty (30) days on the proposed adoption of the Yardley Borough Act 537 Sewage Facilities Management Plan.
Yardley Borough is updating their Act 537 Sewage Facilities Plan as their sanitary sewer conveyance lines are approaching the flow limits for maximum capacity of the existing pipes. The Act 537 Plan identifies the number of projected new connections in both Yardley Borough and the portion of Lower Makefield that flows through Yardley Borough for the next twenty years. In order to accommodate the planned connections, capacity in these sewers is proposed to be increased.
Lower Makefield Township conveys the wastewater generated within its Yardley Borough Service Area through Yardley Borough to the Morrisville Wastewater Treatment Plant for treatment and disposal under NPDES Permit No. 0026701.
The selected alternative in the 537 Plan Update is the construction of additional conveyance capacity to provide the required capacity to meet the projected 20 year flows. Bypass relief sewers will be constructed parallel to existing conveyance sewers at Buck Creek Interceptor and Longshore Sewer. Existing conveyance sewers at the Brock Creek Interceptor will be reconstructed in place with larger diameter sewers. The additional capacity gained from this alternative is expected to be adequate for the 20 year planning period. All the proposed upgrades and construction will occur in Yardley Borough, Bucks County, PA.
There is a 30-day period during which the Yardley Borough Act 537 Plan Update and the addendum to the document are available to be viewed at The Lower Makefield Township building, 1100 Edgewood Road, Yardley, PA 19067 between normal hours of operation or at the links below. The review period shall extend until the close of business on the thirtieth day after the date of this public notice. Written comments on the proposed Yardley Borough Act 537 Plan Update may be submitted to Terry Fedorchak, Township Manager, at the above Township building address.
