Queens Grant PECO Upgrades
PECO will be removing the temporary cable, installing underground electric cable and installing pads for above ground transformers as necessary. The qualified PECO contractor is Riggs Distler, who has been performing other underground electric cable installation in the Township in other neighborhoods. The contractor began work in the Queens Grant neighborhood on August 27, 2018. Coordination with Comcast, who is also working in the area, will be required and the two separate project should not be confused with one another.
PECO work will be performed on Roelofs Road, Denny Drive, S. Crescent Blvd, Weber Drive, Ramsey Road, Piper Lane, and Olsen Ave. Most of the cable will be installed using directional boring, which reduces excavation, open trenching and overall land disturbance. Once the cable is installed, there will be temporary restoration of disturbed lawns and paved areas, followed by permanent restoration of those same areas. The work will require approximately 60 work days to complete, subject to any adverse weather. Once the new underground cable is installed, customer electric services will be “connected” to the new cable. This will require a brief customer interruption, which will be scheduled, and customers will be notified when that interruption will occur.
The work in Queens Grant is part of PECO’s ongoing effort to improve electric reliability in the Township. This work is not a “band-aid”, it is a system rebuild to provide the reliability everyone expects. The new system being installed is the most state of the art underground system to date. PECO trucks will not be used as the work is being performed by PECO’s contractor, Riggs Distler.
