Monica A. Tierney, MBA, MEd.
Director of Parks and Recreation
As the Parks and Recreation Director at Lower Makefield Township Monica is charged with managing 500 acres of parks, 28 miles of bike trails, the Community Pool and the Community Center in addition to planning special events and programming. Her desire to create an environment where it is easy for residents to engage with their community, recreate and move more started as a civilian for the Army at Fort Drum, NY. There she managed facilities, programs, fields and special events. Additionally, she was part of numerous renovation projects including the conversion of an old landfill into an outdoor recreation open space, and transitioning many old unused spaces into training facilities for the soldiers.
When Monica moved home to Middletown PA she began work in Community Outreach at St. Mary Medical Center. She was a member of a Nutrition Coalition that pulled together a number of community leaders using a collective impact approach to find hunger disparities in Bucks County. In addition, she served on the Executive Board for the Neshaminy Coalition for Youth which is charged with helping youth thrive by creating an environment where it is easy for children and families to make safe and healthy choices.
