DISABLED PERSONS ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES

TUESDAY, November 28, 2006

 

A meeting of the Disabled Persons Advisory Board of the Township of Lower Makefield was held in the Municipal Building on Tuesday, November 28, 2006.  Chairman Rogers opened the meeting at 7:40 p.m.

ORDINANCE COMMITTEE

 

In last months meeting Ms. Dorko asked the DPAB members to make any suggestions concerning the Streets and Sidewalk ordinance and email her with any questions, comments or recommendations. Mr. Rogers and Ms. Huchler-Smith suggested that ADA references be in the ordinances. Mr. Rogers will email Ms. Dorko this information.

 

 

HANDICAPPED PARKING SPOTS

 

401 Floral Vale – the township has received a request to redesign one area of the parking lot at Floral Vale. They want to move a cut out. This brings up many issues that need to be addressed first. If they are redoing a parking lot or restriping they need to make sure they adhere to ADA Guidelines. (adequate spaces, properly placed spaces, proper signs). Floral Vale is one of the properties that has not yet complied with our letter sent out in July. Most of their signs are not in compliance and many of their spots are not placed properly. Before the township grants permission they will look into these issues.

 

Nursing Home – Heacock & Stony Hill – appears that they are putting in 42 parking spaces. There are different rules to follow for number of spaces, handicapped, etc. for Nursing facilities. We will follow up.

 

777 Township Line Road – this building has not received Certificate of Occupancy. One of the reasons is the improper signs used for their Handicapped Parking. They are not ADA compliant.

Mr. Rogers stated that a plaque was presented to several of the surrounding DPAB committees in Bucks County. The LMT will formally be presented with this plaque at the December 20, 2006 Supervisor meeting.

 

 

 

TOWNSHIP MEETINGS SOUND SYSTEM

 

Mr. Wells attended the  DPAB meeting to go over sound designs for the township meeting room however it was decided to do his presentation at the next scheduled meeting due to lack of quorum.

 

 

 

The December 26, 2006 meeting has been cancelled. The next meeting will be held January 23, 2007.

 

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
