As the Parks and Recreation Director at Lower Makefield Township Monica is charged with managing 10 full times staff and approximately 130 summer hires in addition to 700 acres of parks, 28 miles of bike trails, the Community Pool and the Community Center in addition to planning special events and programming. In Monica’s time at Lower Makefield Township she opened the Community Center and Dog Park, worked on the Memorial Park Expansion Project, expanded the special events schedule, starting programming, added a college internship program, and launched Camp LMT, developed Parks and Recreation Master and Strategic Plan, and implemented measurements tools to improve future planning and efficiency. In 2022, Monica led her team to join the ranks of elite Parks and Recreation Agencies across the country by earning Accreditation in Commission of Parks and Recreation Agencies and National Recreation and Park Association. This mark of distinction indicates that an agency has met rigorous standards related to the management and administration of lands, facilities, resources, programs, safety and services. Lower Makefield Township is the first agency in Pennsylvania to accomplish National Accreditation. It is Monica’s primary goal to create the best environment for her employees, residents, and all participants in programs.

Lynn has been employed by Lower Makefield Township since 2013. Lynn has been instrumental in streamlining the membership and registration process by implementing Community Pass which is the current Parks and Recreation software. Lynn started as the pool membership coordinator and transitioned to pool operations and is now Parks and Recreation operations. Lynn is responsible for ensuring that the Parks and Recreation department including the Pool is operating at the highest level of efficiency by managing and facilitating inspections, licenses, work order management, inventory, fields and facilities maintenance, equipment orders and replacements. She is responsible for planning and tracking all trainings and certifications for both full-time and seasonal employees. Lynn also reviews policies and procedures to remain current with the Department’s CAPRA accreditation.

Cat recently joined the Parks and Recreation Department team in April of 2022. In her first season, Cat successfully certified 4 new American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructors and revamped the Aquatics Training Program at The Pool. Cat worked on a partnership with the American Red Cross where Lower Makefield Township was selected as one of 4 filming locations used for the 2023 ARC Lifeguarding Program update. As the Pool Manager, Cat is responsible for the hiring and training of all Pool staff. She provides direct oversight of daily operation at the Pool Complex and coordinates special events. She is also responsible for providing quality programming in swim lessons and Aquatic fitness to Pool Members.

Kathy started as a seasonal employee, as a Registration Coordinator, in March of 2021 assisting with the LMT pool membership registrations for the 2021 Season. In August of 2021 she started full time employment with Lower Makefield Township as Membership Coordinator in the Parks & Recreation Department. Kathy is responsible for all aspects of membership, scheduling orientation training classes, and registration for class, programs and summer camp. In addition to her membership and registration duties, Kathy has taken on the position of lead event planner for Veterans Day and Community Day.

Soumya joined the Park And Recreation department in April 2022, as an Administrative Assistant. Soumya is responsible for providing administrative support to the Director of Parks and Recreation as well as provide clerical support to the Operations Manager, Program Manager, and Pool Manager. Soumya answers phone calls and assists residents with registrations for various classes provided at the center. She also assists Membership Coordinator with registration for the Pool and Dog park. In addition, she helps with maintaining and organizing all the supporting documents needed for the membership. Soumya assists and supports the team to achieve better results.

“Stan the Can”

Stan the Can recently retired after 40 years of service at Lower Makefield Township. His retirement was announced in 2023 as part of Pathway to Zero Waste Plan. In his retirement he enjoys using his wit to educate the public about Environmental Sustainability, he is an active member of the Lower Makefield Township Environmental Advisory Board and is often outspoken.

In his spare time, he enjoys long walks in the park, visiting with family and traveling parks throughout the nation. He has a dream of visiting every National Park.
